West Valley City, Utah – The Bakersfield Condors defeated the Utah Grizzlies 2-1 in a shootout Wednesday night at the E-Center.
The Grizzlies took a 1-0 lead at the 6:29 mark of the first period with Danny Stewart banging the puck from behind the net off of Condors netminder Jamie Hodson.
Bakersfield tied the game at one at 13:58 of the second on a goal from Brett Lutes.
Rob McVicar stopped 43 of 44 shots in regulation, including seven in the overtime to force the shootout.
The Condors outscored Utah 2-1 in the shootout to record the game-winning goal.
The Grizzlies and Condors meet again Friday and Saturday at the E-Center. Face-offs both nights are scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
